Signs Your Furnace Needs Repair:

  • Your furnace makes strange sounds: Loud, persistent, or unusual noises from an HVAC system indicate a problem with vital moving parts and components.
  • Unusual odors are coming from the furnace: Smell gas in your Ogden-area home, or notice a distinct burnt-wire odor? We’d advise you to shut down the furnace and call for HVAC service and a gas heating repair as soon as possible.
  • You’re getting cool air from the unit: There’s plenty of that outside, so if the furnace isn’t heating, be sure to call for repair.
  • Your energy or fuel costs are spiking: Increases in fuel or energy costs typically indicate a lack of furnace maintenance, often leading to breakdowns. Your Ogden home could also need heating duct repairs to fix air leaks.
  • Standing water around the furnace: High-efficiency furnaces rely on systems that can generate moisture when operating ineffectively, so watch out for puddles or condensation around the unit.
  • Discoloration in gas furnace pilot light: A pilot light should be cool blue. Orange, yellow, or reddish hues indicate buildup on the pilot or more significant problems.

If you see these signs, call the experts at Mountain Air. Some repairs can be costly, and the best solution is to install a new furnace.

If you think you need to replace your furnace or install a new heating system, call (801) 416-2215 today.

Furnace Repair Frequently Asked Questions

Can a broken furnace be a hazard?

Any major appliance can be a hazard when in a state of disrepair, but gas furnaces should be treated with urgency when you suspect a problem. When a system interacts with electricity, heat, gas, combustion, and combustion byproducts, serious issues can become serious hazards to your family and property. They should be resolved promptly by a professional.

Why is my furnace not blowing hot air?

If your furnace is blowing air, but it’s not hot, it could mean that only the fan is operating. This could be a thermostat problem or an incorrect setting on the thermostat. It could also mean your pilot light has gone out or your heating element is malfunctioning.

Once you’ve checked to ensure your thermostat is set to heat instead of fan, it’s time to contact a professional for repairs.

Why is my furnace leaking?

If your furnace leaks water, it’s likely a high-efficiency unit having trouble with condensation drainage. Moisture from the air can condense and accumulate into a problem in your furnace. This is supposed to be drained via lines, but clogs or other issues can prevent these lines from doing their job.

Had Carson come out and look at my partially unfinished basement to add some vents and a return. Carson was prompt and arrived the same day as when I called. The crew of Landon and Ernesto came out the next day. They were quick and professional. Great experience with everyone involved.

From the time I got in touch with Hilary, she came right out the same day, a Friday and gave me a quote, which was within my budget. She was very thorough and professional and extremely knowledgable and friendly. We even discussed ways to save me money, which was extremely helpful to me. All said and done and work approved, she said they could star on the coming Monday (2 days) Wow. The crew of Landon, Ernesto , Jake and Tony showed up right on time Monday morning. Keep in mind that the work to be done is in a crawl space, not a basement, and required them to remove all the existing, damaged aluminum duct work The men were allocated 4 days to do the job. They were done that same day, saving me three days of labor which made my final invoice even less than originally quoted. Now my ductwork is up to current code. This company has my full endorsement and reccomendation to anyone who needs HVAC work done. Many thanks for the high quality work they did. I now have sufficient heatin and A/C air flow to every register in the house. THANK YOU!!!
